How to download a video from Threads

Threads doesn't have a built-in way to save a video to your device. Here's how to get a copy using VidPeel.

Note: Threads support is currently unreliable — similar to YouTube, extraction fails for many posts right now. This is a limitation of the underlying tooling, not something specific to the link you're trying. TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook remain the reliable option in the meantime.

Step 1: Copy the post link

  1. Open the post containing the video, either in the Threads app or at threads.net.
  2. Tap the Share icon below the post.
  3. Tap Copy link. It'll look something like https://www.threads.net/@username/post/AbCdEfGh.

Step 2: Paste it into VidPeel

  1. Go back to the VidPeel homepage.
  2. Paste the link into the box and click Get video.
  3. Once the preview loads, click Download MP4.

Public posts only

VidPeel can only retrieve videos from public Threads posts — the same content anyone could see without following the account. Posts from private/restricted accounts aren't accessible to any external tool.

A note on using the video afterward

Downloading your own posts, or content someone has explicitly shared with you for that purpose, is generally fine. Reposting someone else's video without credit or permission can violate Threads' terms and, depending on the content, copyright law. Use this responsibly.
