How to save an Instagram Reel, post, or video

Instagram doesn't offer a built-in "save to camera roll" option for most video content — screen recording is clunky and loses quality. Here's a cleaner way, as long as the post is public.

Step 1: Get the post link

  1. Open the Reel, post, or video in the Instagram app.
  2. Tap the (three dots) or the paper-plane Share icon.
  3. Tap Copy link.

Step 2: Paste it into VidPeel

  1. Head to the VidPeel homepage.
  2. Paste the link and click Get video.
  3. Click Download MP4 once the preview appears.

Why some links don't work

VidPeel can only retrieve videos from public accounts and posts. If an account is private, or the content requires being logged in to view (some Stories, some age-gated posts), the tool won't be able to reach it — that's a deliberate limit, not a bug.

Use it responsibly

Save your own Reels for backup or repurposing freely. For other creators' content, keep it to personal use, credit the original creator if you share it anywhere, and don't use it commercially without their permission.
