How to download a video from X (Twitter)
X doesn't offer a native "save video" button in the app or on the website — if you want to keep a copy of a video you posted, or one shared with you, you need a separate tool. Here's the quickest way.
Step 1: Copy the post link
- Open the post containing the video, either in the X app or at x.com.
- Tap the Share icon below the post (the arrow pointing out of a box).
- Tap Copy link. It'll look something like
https://x.com/username/status/1234567890123456789.
Step 2: Paste it into VidPeel
- Go back to the VidPeel homepage.
- Paste the link into the box and click Get video.
- Once the preview loads, click Download MP4.
A note on quote-tweets and threads
If the video appears inside a quote-tweet or a reply thread, make sure you copy the link to the specific post that contains the video, not the top of the thread — otherwise the tool won't be able to find the right clip.
What if the post is from a private account?
VidPeel can only retrieve videos from public posts. If an account is protected, its videos aren't accessible to a downloader tool — the same way they wouldn't be visible to anyone who isn't an approved follower.
A note on using the video afterward
Downloading your own posts, or content someone has explicitly shared with you for that purpose, is generally fine. Re-uploading someone else's video as your own — particularly without credit or for commercial use — can violate X's terms and, depending on the content, copyright law. Use this responsibly.
